Global Fight Against Racism

I Come From A City Where…

I come from a city where…

Kids can make computer games
But don’t know how to ride a train

Teens can ace quantum physics
But have no clue about budget sheets

College kids can start revolutions
But with love they’ve no solution

Thirty year olds still watch cartoons
But can’t define platoon or harpoon

Forty year olds still live with mommy
But convince themselves they’re free

Fifty year olds try out kick-start companies
That last no more than fifty two weeks

The sheer existence of intelligence
If not balanced is meaningless

This city is filled with educated idiots
Whose lives rely on widgets

Hello Silence

Hello silence, ye olde friend
Once acquainted, we meet again
We do not see one another often
Not since I left you alone in that coffin
Where have you been, you strange mystery
You glance, then evade our torn reality
As if you are nothing but a dream
A flicker in time, an untold memory

Hello silence, a strange companion
The one who soundlessly, readily creeps in
One who dwells in questionable existence
As if your form is nothing but pretense
You take over while many are sleeping
You echo in the hollows of the disbelieving
I found you once and tried retrieving
But it ended with a mortal “me” retreating

Hello silence, once again
The final greeting before your descent
As suddenly as life begins
Your demise — silence…ends.

Uttering Utter Confusion

Uttering utter confusion
Amazed by a maze
Staring at the stairs
Sloping down a slope
‘Round the globe
Motions, emotions

Firing the firer
Projections of projects projected projectilely
Generations generating generators
Theorists theorizing theoretical theories
Illusionists eluding the elusive illusions
eluded by allusion alluded to allure
Allure, lure

Polarized polarities polarizing
Trail-blazers blazing trails
Unasked questioned
Unworded answers
Unwritten memories
Unforgotten fantasies

Layers of bureaucracy
Circles of philosophy
Checklists for passes
Mentality of the masses

The mass and the matter
The ladder and the latter
The aggression breeds competition
The destruction breeds reflection

The reflection leads to action
The actions evoke reactions
The reactions invoke deflections

And the only abstraction
amidst the confusion
is the invention
of a measurement
we call…

time.

Time is infinite.

Take time.
Give it time.
Never make time — take it.
Give it.
Allocate it.
But never
make time.

You are not a god.

Fight

I don’t want someone to
fight for me.

I don’t want someone to
fight against me.

I want someone to
fight
with
me.

If that’s too much to ask,
then I’ll fight alone regardless.

I didn’t get this far
to make it
just here.

I didn’t get this far
by waiting around to prove my worth.

No,
I know what it’s like to be tired.

I know what exhaustion feels like.

I know what it’s like to want to give up.

But,

I also know what it’s like
to have no choice but to keep going.

And that,
m’dear,
is all I know.

So darling,
keep going.

With or without me.

I made it,
so can you.

Prove me right.

I dare you.
